The Investigative Media Lab (IML) at the University of Georgia is a center dedicated to promoting and advancing investigative journalism. It serves as a hub for training aspiring and mid-career journalists, offering courses, workshops, and resources to develop their skills in investigative reporting. Thus, the IML plays an active role in producing high-quality investigative journalism that uncovers hidden truths, exposes corruption, and holds power accountable. The Lab is the first of its kind in Georgia that brings together local and international students, professors, and media practitioners specializing in investigative reporting and data analysis.
The IML has a clear mission and objectives to ensure the integrity and impact of investigative reporting. The team of experienced journalists and local/international experts serve as trainers, mentors, and advisors who bring a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to the training programs, sharing their expertise and guiding participants in their investigative pursuits. The IML actively collaborates with media outlets, international organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders in the field of journalism in Georgia and the Black Sea region.
